Raise The Bar – Brazilian Music Immersion

This presentation will explore samba’s Afro-Brazilian rhythms, percussion instruments, the rise of samba schools, Carnival street parades, and the emergence of bossa nova, highlighting the role music plays at the intersection of culture and global traditions. Through storytelling and hands-on music activities, participants will be invited to sing, move, and play percussion, creating a whole-community music ensemble. By experiencing how samba connects people and reflects identity, we move beyond “my music” and “your music” to share “our” music.
