THANK YOU to everyone who attended our @bigten Hap THANK YOU to everyone who attended our @bigten Happy Hour at @slyfoxpittsburgh last month. We raised $250 and collected a large number of school supplies for The Education Partnership. It was great to see a lot of new and returning faces to our event. We also had alumni from several different universities. Keep an eye out for future Penn State Alumni Association Greater Pittsburgh Chapter events coming soon.
THANK YOU to everyone that came out to @gristhouse THANK YOU to everyone that came out to @gristhouse today to watch @pennstatefball win the season opener vs WVU. They are the Penn State Alumni Association Greater Pittsburgh Chapter official game watch location and an amazing place to watch a Penn State game. It was a day filled with sun, fun, clouds, rain, a rain delay that went on forever and most importantly a PSU win. WE ARE also so happy to see so many of you have joined the Grist House PSU Game Day Crew. The glasses turned out great. A portion of each membership results in a donation to the Franco Harris Memorial FastStart Endowment. We can't wait to see everyone for more games this season.

There were so many Penn Staters decked out in PSU gear and wearing the special Penn State Pirates hats. We completely sold out of our block of tickets which we have never done before. From that alone we raised $1,600 to donate to @pennstatethon! Also want to extend a big THANK YOU to @pjc4pennstate, CEO of @pennstatealums for representing us by throwing out the honorary first pitch to the @pirate_parrot and throwing a great pitch too!

PUMP partnership announcement Josiah Gilliam, Exec PUMP partnership announcement Josiah Gilliam, Executive Director of the Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project (@pumppgh) and PSU Alum, recently visited with the @psaa_gpc board and told us about PUMP and it’s incredible work with the young people of our region. Penn State Alumni Association Greater Pittsburgh Chapter will be working with him and his team to identify opportunities to partner with PUMP on some exciting things in the coming Chapter year! The Pittsburgh Urban Magnet Project’s (PUMP) mission is to make Pittsburgh a more dynamic and diverse place to live, work, and play by engaging, educating, and mobilizing young people to create change in our community. Their grassroots advocacy work includes support for The Family Care Act (paid family and medical leave), Start Strong PA, Pre-K for PA, Fair Districts PA, and more. They support civic engagement work through non-partisan voter registration, voter education, candidate forums, and Get Out the Vote efforts to elevate the voice of young people in the region. They host community service projects, PUMPed to Run, volunteer opportunities, and fundraisers that generate thousands of volunteers and tens of thousands of donated funds for charitable organizations each year. And their celebrated Pittsburgh Sports League (PSL) offers casual recreation to high-level competition for over 24,000 people each year, providing opportunities for young people to meet and interact with a diverse array of community members before, during, and after their games.
