Virtual Blood Drive – October 24 through November 6
October 19, 2021Penn State Day with the Pens
December 16, 2021WE ARE excited to share details about the Penn State Alumni Association Greater Pittsburgh Chapter FastStart Program Endowment in advance of Giving Tuesday 2021!
FastStart is an incredible program that helps under-represented first-year students through their transition to college by matching them with a faculty/staff mentor and a Penn State Alumni mentor that will answer questions, direct them to resources, offer support and wisdom, and provide informal networks for career development. To learn more about the program or to become a Mentor, visit the PSAA website here.
Right now, FastStart is only offered to students at the University Park campus. It’s our hope that support from our Endowment – the first of its kind in the country – will help the program begin to lay foundations at campuses across the Commonwealth, extending these valuable resources to more students in need. We’re lucky to have a Commonwealth Campus right here in Allegheny County, and we’ve ensured that our Endowment will directly support FastStart at Penn State Greater Allegheny whenever the program is ready to expand there.
Our goal is to raise $25,000 by summer 2023, and the PSAA has pledged to match our contribution dollar for dollar if we meet that goal. The resulting $50,000 endowment will support FastStart and our students into perpetuity – but we need your help to make that happen!
We would be honored for you to celebrate the spirit of Giving Tuesday by supporting this special effort.
For The Glory,
Your PSAA-GPC Board of Directors
